The Zapettos Story

Zapettos Founder

Born 1967 in Milan, Italy restaurateur son Giovanni Alessandro Zapetto grew up in a world of hard work and excellence inspired by the example of his loving mother Lorena Alessandra Zapetto. From a young age Giovanni's mother showed him the need to provide not only value to clients but an aesthetic and style they would love. Giovanni learned these lessons well as he worked in his mother's restaurants through high school.

After high school Giovanni's interests turned towards a new path during a summer working in his uncle's shoemaking shop, Scarpe Milanesi . His uncle Lorenzo noted his young nephew's eye for design and aesthetic, he quickly took him on as an apprentice.

Giovanni soon recognized the need to expand from shoes into high fashion. In 1989 he enrolled in the Milan School of Fashion where he learned how to design, create, and fashion various styles for men and women. It was there he met Maria Delgado an exchange student from Cali, Colombia. The two married in 1996 after a long courtship, they have 5 children.

Tragedy struck in 1997 when Giovanni's uncle died. Giovanni soon took over the shop and expanded into men's fashion. In 1999 with the help of his wife they added bridal and wedding fashion to their product lineup.

The year 2000 saw a move to Florence where the shop was renamed Zapettos. Soon the move was followed by a lucrative sponsorship deal with the Italian Football Team.

Then in 2005 Giovanni received a partnership offer from Brandon Campbell in New York to bring high fashion and the Milanese aesthetic to the United States via New York, Giovanni accepted.

Fourteen years and three stores later, Zapettos has become a highly visible and respected fashion brand. The guiding principle of Giovanni and Zapettos being "Chi dorme non piglia pesci", "Those who sleep don’t catch any fish." The Zapettos family remains dedicated to delivering quality fashion and comfort to its customers and looks forward to what the future brings.

Our logo was made by Maria Delgado-Zapetto; her inspiration for the logo came from watching a group of Eagles flying near the Alps during a vacation with her family. Her drawing is to represent the bravery of Eagles who rise up each day and charter unknown territory. In the same spirit the Zapettos family rises each day to confront new challenges and participate in new opportunities
